200 Amp 2-Gang Meter Installation for Residential Properties in Alviso, CA

A two-gang meter installation uses a coordinated assembly with two meter positions. It is commonly considered when a residential property requires separate metering arrangements, such as for two dwelling units. The service design determines how the meters connect to the associated electrical equipment.

A duplex may be a candidate when its electrical design calls for two meter positions, but the appropriate configuration depends on the calculated loads, utility service arrangement, and local requirements. The total service capacity and the ratings of the individual metering components must be evaluated.

The answer depends on the intended metering arrangement and the property's distribution design. Each meter must correspond to its intended electrical service or load arrangement, with appropriate disconnecting and distribution equipment. The specific configuration should be established before the meter assembly is selected.

Conversion may be possible, but it requires reviewing the building's electrical layout, service conductors, available utility supply, intended load separation, and equipment location. The utility may need to approve the proposed metering arrangement, and associated panels or feeders may require modification.

Review the number of intended meter accounts, residential occupancy arrangement, calculated electrical loads, service disconnect locations, meter socket specifications, and utility connection requirements. The physical mounting location and routing for incoming and outgoing conductors should also be evaluated before installation planning is finalized.
